With more than 1,200 years of history, Kyoto is known throughout the world for embodying a broad range of traditional Japanese cultures.

One of the concepts behind KIYOMIZU ELITE TERRACE is to offer guests an experience of those cultures, simply by staying in the hotel area of Kawabata Gojo, which features globally-renowned sightseeing spots within walking distance, such as Kiyomizu-dera, Sanjusangendo, and Kamo River.

The other part of the concept - wellness - is typified by the private sauna baths provided in 6 out of the total 40 guest rooms.

Extensive use of wooden materials and soft lighting make the entrance hall a place of comfort.

The entrance space of the hotel is designed with an eye-catching wooden ceiling that is stretched in a lattice pattern. Gentle light pours down through the wooden bars like sunlight filtering through trees, creating a relaxing and peaceful atmosphere.

Natural materials are also used extensively in the guest rooms that are decorated with wooden artworks by artists with ties to Kyoto, which collectively creates a sense of nature throughout the building.

For the comfort of families and foreign tourists, guest rooms are as spacious as 28-45m2.
There are also connecting rooms, which are not common in Kyoto hotels.
The largest rooms of the hotel can accommodate up to 5 people and can be used for a variety of purposes.
Some guest rooms are furnished with convenient facilities for families and long-stay travelers, including a mini kitchen. There is also a common laundry space.

The tailor-made sauna from the company “Finland Sauna Japan,” adopts the popular Finnish löyly, where water is sprinkled on the sauna stones to promote sweating due to steam.
Sauna-lovers will be delighted by this news, as few hotels still offer such authentic Japan-made sauna facilities using Japanese cypress. Furthermore, all guest rooms are furnished with a state-of-the-art bathtub (sanso bihoyu) that effectively cleans and warms up your body with oxygen-containing micro-bubbles, which prevent that feeling of cold after taking a bath and helps maintaining long-term skin moisture. The sauna and bathroom will instantly eliminate fatigue from your traveling.

We are using the AI-based voice assistant “Aiello” in place of a concierge.

This tiny device that is the size of an alarm clock has a touch panel and offers a range of services in place of hotel clerks.
It is capable of providing information about hotel facilities, nearby sightseeing spots and means of transportation.
Besides the wake-up call feature, Aiello will automatically open the curtains when you say "good morning" to it.
By saying "good night", the curtains will close and the lights will turn off.
